Cause

MAC Operating System (OS) has ability to save users credential request generated for Enterprise Vault (EV) server. EV client for MAC OS connects to EV server by two different ways depending on the user request type, which ultimately save as key chain separately.

1. EV Toolbar login, users don’t need to authenticate multiple times if they launch the EV toolbar. User’s requests for Viewing, Archiving, Restoring and Deletion operations would not ask for credentials, these are background http calls to Exchange or EV.

2. Safari browser accesses, user would not prompt for repetitive authentication for browser search & viewmessage.asp request (link associated with shortcut body).

If there is any discrepancy in the MAC OS key chain entry saved for EV request then the user login to the toolbar would fail and throw error “You don’t have access to this vault” while accessing email via viewmessage.asp (original item link associated with shortcut body).

Resolution

This issue can be resolved by Deleting or Resetting MAC OS key chain entry created for Enterprise vault.
