Cause

This issue is caused by a corrupted machine.config file in the .NET 2.X folder path listed: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.X\Config\. Review of the machine.config file from other servers should indicate a file size of 25KB. Review of the same machine.config file on the Accelerator server could show a different file size.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, the machine.config file can be restored from another server, as follows:

- Obtain a copy of the machine.config file from the C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.X\Config\ location.
- Verify the file size is 25KB and the full version of .NET 2.0.X matches. For example, if the Accelerator server is using .NET 2.0.50727, verify the server from which the machine.config file is being copied is also using .NET 2.0.50727.
- On the Accelerator server, browse to C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.X\Config\.
- Re-name the existing machine.config file to append .old to the end. The existing file should now be named machine.config.old.
- Place the machine.config file obtained from another server into the same location as the current machine.config.old file.
- Open the Services Management Console:
--- Stop the Enterprise Vault Accelerator Manager Service (EVAMS).
--- Restart the IIS Admin Service.
--- Start the EVAMS.

Access to the EVBAAdmin web site should now be restored, and the Accelerator Client should not display (DEV MODE) in the title bar and should now be able to connect to a Customer.

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to start the Accelerator Client, the Client is unable to connect to the Accelerator Customer. The title bar of the Client window shows: (DEV MODE).
Attempting to access the EVBAAdmin web site and review of the Enterprise Vault (EV) Event Logs show the errors listed below.
