Cause
When provisioning groups are configured to automatically enable users, they will be fully enabled during the first scheduled archiving run.
Enterprise Vault stores archiving information within the exchange mailbox as a "Hidden Message". EVPM will write hidden messages to the exchange mailbox containing the customized policy setting. The issue occurs when EVPM is ran against the mailbox after provisioning has been run but before the first scheduled archiving run. When the Archiving Task enables the mailbox during the archiving run the "Hidden Messages" written by EVPM are overwritten.
Resolution
In scenarios where this occurs is recommended to disable the Auto-Enable feature on the Provisioning group, then have the EVPM Script enable the mailbox for archiving. This will prevent the removal of the EVPM policy settings and allow the users to be archived as desired.
Issue/Introduction
In the scenario where provisioning groups are configured to automatically enable users and additional archiving rules are set using EVPM before the first scheduled archiving run. Items are archived under the provisioned exchange policy ignoring the rules assigned by EVPM.
