| Double-click the Enterprise Vault shortcut to view the contents of the original item, or select the shortcut and then restore it to the mailbox. If a shortcut is not available for an archived item, use the Enterprise Vault browser search to find and restore items from a vault. The administrator may have configured Enterprise Vault so that, when double-clicking a shortcut, Enterprise Vault displays the properties of the archived item rather than the contents. | |
| Shows that Enterprise Vault is archiving the item. Double-click the item to view it. | |
| Enterprise Vault was told to delete the item from the vault. Both the shortcut and the archived item will be deleted shortly. | |

Enterprise Vault is retrieving a copy of the item from the archive. The restored item will be exactly as it was before being archived, with the original icon. There will still be a copy of the item in the archive.
Depending on how the administrator has configured Enterprise Vault, the following buttons may be available on the toolbar. |

| Stores the selected items in a vault without waiting for Enterprise Vault to archive them automatically. | |
| Restores the items associated with the selected Enterprise Vault shortcuts | |
| Deletes selected archived items from a vault. | |

Cancels the action that Enterprise Vault is currently performing. The following can be canceled:
- The archiving of items that are being archived.
- The retrieval of items that are being restored to your mailbox.
- The deletion of items that are being deleted.
In each case, select the items first and then click the button. | |
| Displays a tree view of the items stored in the vault. | |
| If available, starts the downloading of items to the offline vault. | |
| If available, can control the order in which Enterprise Vault downloads items to the offline vault. |
