Resolution

This error can be generated by multiple issues and the following items should be checked:

  • Verify using the same logon details used to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server.

  • The account used needs to have access to the vault containing the item.

  • There may be an issue with the Enterprise Vault add-in. See Related articles regarding the ResetEVClient utility to resolve this issue.

  • Add the Enterprise Vault server names to the Exchange Desktop Policy. On the Advanced tab, select Outlook and modify the Add server to Intranet Zone setting.

In addition, follow these steps to verify if the user has permission to the archived item in the vault:

  1. Click the problem item, hold down Shift+Ctrl keys and click one of the EV buttons.

  2. Select Vault Information at the bottom left of the pop-up window.

  3. In this info box, scroll down to Selected item properties, then copy the Archive ID associated with the item.

  4. On the EV Server, hold down Shift+Ctrl keys and right-click Archives in the Vault Administration Console. On the menu, select Find Archive or Folder

  5. Paste the Archive ID copied from the selected item properties then click Find.

  6. Note the Archive Name that is listed.

  7. Get the properties of the listed archive and verify the client trying to restore the item has access to the vaulted items with Read access. If not, then add the user with Read access to this account.

  8. Close and reopen Outlook, then try to restore the item again.
