How to use DebugDiag to capture an Outlook crash

Resolution

  1. Download and install DebugDiag on the client from Microsoft:  https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49924
 
Note: Both 32 and 64 bit versions are available. Prior to release 10, all EV processes are 32 bit. Use the 32 bit tool, even on a 64 bit OS
 
  1. Create a crash rule for the Outlook.exe process
Note: Outlook must be open, or the Outlook.exe process will not be visible.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
  1. Choose Next twice
  2. The path that the user dumps will be placed in and then choose Next followed by Finish
  3. Reproduce the issue (ideally capturing a client trace at the same time, see related articles) and then check the userdumps folder for the crash dump.
