Workaround
Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.Add the following registry key or update if it already exists:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search\Preferences
Name: PreventIndexingOutlook
Type : DWORD
Value: 1
Note: This will prevent Outlook from adding any entries to the Catalog registry key. If the sub-keys do not exist, it will be necessary to create them.
Issue/Introduction
By default Windows search will index any newly created PSTs on the file system, this can cause some overhead if an environment has many PST files and could have a performance impact.
