Sources show 'Never Indexed' in eDiscovery Platform

Never Indexed

Cause

Any of the following conditions can cause the issue
  • The crawler service for the document type is not started (esaPSTCrawlerservice, esaNSFCrawlerservice, etc)
  • The process for the crawler service that has been started is hung and needs to be restarted
  • The sources were not selected to process

Resolution

Either restart the Crawler services or start them if they are not started by using the following steps.
  1. On the desktop of the Clearwell server, open Clearwell Utility and select option 3 to stop services
  2. Press space when asked to press any key to continue
  3. Then in Clearwell Utility, select option 4 to start services
  4. Press space when asked to press any key to continue
Now log back into the eDiscovery Platform interface and process the source again by following the steps below which will allow the indexing to complete correctly
  1. Select the case in the eDiscovery Platform from the case drop down menu
  2. Select PROCESSING tab
  3. Select Sources and Preprocessing tab
  4. Place a check on the source
  5. Select PROCESS SOURCE WITH DISCOVERY from the drop down menu at the bottom right of the screen and then click GO

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to process a data source in eDiscovery Platform, the status column can display 'Never Indexed'. This will prevent any of the documents from being available for review.
