Description

Error Message

The Vault Administration Console displays the following error code:

0x80131501

From a Dtrace log of the mmc process:

(mmc) <10084> EV-H {PowerShellHost.InvokeCmdlet} Exception: The 'New-EVSMTPPolicy' command was found in the module 'EnterpriseVault', but the module could not be loaded. For more information, run 'Import-Module EnterpriseVault'. Info: Diag: Type:System.Management.Automation.CommandNotFoundException ST: at System.Management.Automation.CommandDiscovery.TryModuleAutoDiscovery(String commandName, ExecutionContext context, String originalCommandName, CommandOrigin commandOrigin, SearchResolutionOptions searchResolutionOptions, CommandTypes commandTypes, Exception& lastError)

Cause

Enterprise Vault (EV) uses the PowerShell cmdlets New-EVSMTPPolicy and New-EVSMTPServerSettings to complete these configurations, even when they are invoked from the Vault Administration Console. The error code is generated because the EV module is not registered correctly in Powershell on the EV server.

Resolution

From the Start menu, open the Enterprise Vault Management Shell shortcut. Running PowerShell from this shortcut registers the EV module for future use.
