Cause

Corrupt performance counters are preventing the Enterprise Vault SMTP Archiving task from properly starting. 

Resolution

On the Enterprise Vault server that the SMTP Archiving task is associated with, open a command prompt, using Run As > Administrator. 
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64
  • Type lodctr /R
  • Type Winmgmt.exe /RESYNCPERF

Note: Executing this command may result in a status code '2'. Rerun the command and it should succeed. 

Restarting the SMTP Archiving task should complete without errors. 

Issue/Introduction

Enterprise Vault SMTP Archiving Task is repeatedly generating error 41533. This, in turn, results in the SMTP Archiving Task not cleanly starting, and messages are not being archived.
