After Installation of Outlook Add-In on Enterprise Vault (EV) server, Event Viewer cannot be opened.

Error Message

Event viewer cannot open the event log OR custom view. Verify that event log service is running or query is too long. Access is denied(5)

 

Cause
After installation, log path get change to incorrect location (C:\Windows\System32\Winevt\Logs\*.evt’) that does not contain appropriate EVTX file.

Workaround

Change the log path location to “%SystemRoot%\System32\Winevt\Logs\Enterprise Vault.evtx”, similarly for “Enterprise vault converters” & “Enterprise Vault CryptoModule” as well.

 

Resolution

Enterprise Vault has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue is present in the version(s) of the product(s) referenced in this article.

There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time. Issue/Introduction

The installation of outlook add-in is supported on EV server, however post installation of add-in, event viewer may stop to show event logs entries for following container.

Enterprise Vault Converters
Enterprise Vault CryptoModule
