Cause
This is all caused by a setting in Internet Information Services (IIS) called HTTP Redirect.
Resolution
1. Open the Internet Information Services Manager
2. Expand Sites | Default Web Site
3. Select the EnterpriseVault virtual directory
4. On the right pane, double-click on the HTTP Redirect app
5. Un-check the top box labeled: Redirect requests to this destination
Note: In Server 2012, this option is enabled by default but the URL field is empty
6. Click the Apply button in the top right hand pane under Actions
7. From command prompt, run an IISRESET
8. Test all functionality
Note: When running EV in a Microsoft Cluster, running an IIS reset will take the Indexing resource offline in a failed state. Once the IIS reset is complete, online the Indexing Resource.
This may also affect EV in a VCS cluster.
Issue/Introduction
It has been found that opening Shortcuts in Outlook, Restoring Shortcuts, and using the Enterprise Vault (EV) Search feature will produce errors as seen below.
