Windows System event logs show:

Event ID: 15021
Description: HTTPEvent An error occurred while using SSL configuration endpoint

Enterprise Vault Search shows the following:

This page can't be displayed
Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings and try connecting to [site address] again.
If this error persists, contact your site administrator.

Resolution

To correct this issue, check that the https bindings have not been dropped in the IIS configuration. Perform the following action on the (EV) server:
  1. In the Enterprise Vault Server, open IIS.
  2. Select Default Web Site and click on Bindings in the right pane.
  3. In the Site Bindings window, select https and click on Edit.
  4. Choose a SSL certificate from the drop down and click OK.
  5. Restart IIS.
 
Note: The Bindings are maintained by the Operating System. If they are being dropped regularly Microsoft should be contacted to determine the reason and solution.  
 

Issue/Introduction

After Microsoft KB's are applied to Enterprise Vault (EV) Server with Windows Server 2012 and Enterprise Vault, IIS can possibly drop its SSL bindings, leaving the SSL Certificate section blank.
