Unable to initialize Names and Address Book (NAB) session for Domino server: 'Failed to create Notes Session (mutex)'

This issue is due to mutant mutex on a particular process and thread that destabilizes the Note (API).  As many of the (EV) for Domino processes rely on the Notes (API) for Domino processing they will not be able to proceed until this condition is cleared generally by a reboot.

Work Around:  Contact Veritas Enterprise Vault support for a workaround to this issue.

Veritas has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue is present in the version(s) of the product(s) referenced in this article.

 

There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a cumulative hotfix or service pack in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time, but is not scheduled for any release. This issue has been observed on an Enterprise Vault (EV) server that hosts (EV) SMTP Archiving, (EV) for Domino Journal Archiving, and (EV) for Exchange Journaling archiving running on the same host server. Periodically (EV) for Domino archiving or provisioning will not complete and Event ID 41050 will be reported in the event log. The only method for getting (EV) for Domino processing to work again is to reboot the server.
