NFS Error

Cause

This is expected behavior for Enterprise Vault version 12.1.

From version 12.1 onward it is mandated that all NetApp Data Logical Interfaces (LIFs) support the CIFS protocol only. It is no longer supported to have the NFS protocol enabled on any LIF on a Storage Virtual Machine (SVM)/Vserver. This is due to issues found where NFS was enabled and NFS clients attempted to retrieve archived files which caused FSA placeholder corruption and zero byte FSA placeholders.

This only affects SVMs attempting to be added after 12.1 is installed. SVMs that were added before 12.1 was installed will not be affected, however, it must be understood that having the NFS protocol enabled on those previously added SVMs opens up the potential for NFS clients to cause the placeholder issue explained.

Resolution

Remove the NFS protocol from all of the SVM LIFs that is being added and retry the addition of the FSA NetApp C-Mode target.

Issue/Introduction

When adding a NetApp C-Mode FSA target in the Vault Administration Console, after selecting the data LIF the administrator is presented with the following error and the target cannot be added:

Cannot add the specified NetApp C-Mode VServer as this NetApp C-Mode Vserver has at least one NFS enabled data LIF.
