Cause

In the interest of performance, the VAC does not retrieve the values of every setting from the database each time the dialog box is opened.

Resolution

This is a display issue that only affects the dialog box and not the behavior of the archiving task. If the user manually refreshes the Policies node of the VAC, the correct setting for the Archiving Strategy will be retrieved from the database and the dialog will again display the correct setting. The archiving tasks will always use the setting as recorded in the database.

Issue/Introduction

In the Vault Administration Console (VAC), if a user opens an Exchange Mailbox Policy to the Archiving Rules page and changes the selection in the Archiving Strategy dropdown menu, then clicks Cancel, and then opens the page again, the change that he made persists in the dropdown menu.
