Missing the link to "Click here to view more on Microsoft Exchange" in Outlook, when the EV Outlook add-in is installed

Error Message

There is no error message. The message that is displayed, is a notification, that indicates Outlook is not connected to Exchange.

"There are more items in this folder on the server.
Connect to the server to view them."

Cause

Microsoft (MS) pushed out an update to Outlook 2016 that changed the way it responds to Outlook add-ins, which affects Outlooks connection state. Certain calls from an add-in, can cause Outlook to believe it's offline.
MS has indicated that they will provide a fix for this issue in a future release.

Issue/Introduction

When using Outlook 2016, the “Click here to view more on Microsoft Exchange” link is sometimes missing from Outlook when the EV Add-in is enabled. When this happens the message displayed says "Connect to the Exchange server to see them,"

Note: This issue only occurs:
  • When using Outlook 2016
  • Outlook's "Mail to keep offline" setting is not set to "All"
  • The EV Outlook add-in is enabled
