Description

An number of problems may prevent users from successfully completing an installation of Clearwell on a server.  This list includes (but is not limited to):
•Not having the correct usernames/passwords of accounts which will be used to run Clearwell services.
•User Account Control (UAC) being enabled on the server
•Group Policies preventing run-as commands and/or modifying environment variables after (or before) installation
•Insufficient disk space
•Failure to disable virus scan.
•Perl and/or Cygwin not existing in the system path.
This support note discusses on how to recover from a failed installation.

Resolution

Generally, once the issues identified in the "introduction" section of this note are resolved, an installation will proceed without issue.  That said, a system can get into an indeterminate state after attempting to install Clearwell.

Use the following instructions to recover from a failed upgrade or installation:
•Open setup.ini from the installer folder, and source the "Product Code" entry.
•Run msiexec /x on the DOS shell.
•Also check the following: delete the registry key:
 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\InstallShield_
•Reboot the machine to be on the safe side, and right-click on installClearwell.bat, and select
•Enter the appropriate credentials when prompted.
The install/upgrade should proceed successfully.  If otherwise, please escalate immediately for assistance.
