Description
There may be a need to backup and restore one appliance environment to another server.
If possible, the best situation to start with is to have both appliances up and running with the same version of eDisc installed and running.
Here are the steps to follow to duplicate the environment:
- Plan a maintenance window.
- Run a full node backup on the existing server (Clearwell Utility: Option 1). Ensure either current case backup(s) exist or opt to include them in the node backup.
- Robocopy the backup to the new server.
- Copy the directory contents from the old server to the new server.
- Take the existing server offline.
- Make the source location available to the new server (if possible with the same path).
- Re-assign the server name and hostname.
- Restore the node backup to the new server (Clearwell Utility: Option 2). This will automatically overwrite any previous server environment, and the Legal Hold confirmation server will automatically be recognized.
- If the new server has a different FQDN or remote shared MySQL DB server, restore WITHOUT CONFIGURATION.
- Add all of the Utility Nodes via the System > Support Features > Utility Node Node Resource Management
- Update node backup and case backup locations and schedules.
- Add new collection destination(s) as UNC paths.
- Enable the retriever services on the Utility Nodes once UNC case data is available.
