Description

This article will explain how to change the password for the Service Accounts used for access if the account has been changed in Active Directory so it can integrate active directory authentication within the Clearwell eDiscovery Platform

Below is a list of all the Service Accounts that have passwords that will need to be updated after making any changes to the Active Directory credentials.

Clearwell services:

EsaApplicationService : FireDaemon
EsaEvCrawlerService
EsaEvRetrieverService
EsaExchangeCrawlerService
EsaExchangeRetrieverService
EsaIGCBravaLicenseService
EsaIGCJobProcessorService
EsaNsfCrawlerService
EsaNsfRetrieverService
EsaPstCrawlerService
EsaPstRetrieverService
EsaRissCrawlerService
EsaRissRetrieverService
EsaNxGridBase
EsaNxGridGateway

 

1. To see what Clearwell Services are installed and running on the appliance, in Windows go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.

2. Look for each of the services that has a Log on as Account that has been changed in Active Directory. These must be updated to reflect the changes.

3. Right Click on the Service Acount name in the Log on As column, and go to Properties in the menu that appears.

4.  Go to the Log on As tab

5. The Log on As tab will show the account name and the Password blanks.

6. Type in the new password credentials and again to confirm.

7. Restart each service in which the credentials were changed.

 

Appliance / SMTP Authentication

  1. In Clearwell, go to SYSTEM
  2. For email authentication, retype the credentials for the field labeled SMTP AUTHENTICATION SERVER 
  3. For Windows authentication, retype the credentials for the field labeled WINDOWS AUTHENTICATION FOR CLEARWELL APPLIANCE
  4. For mail conversion, retype the credentials for the field labeled ADDITIONAL ACCOUNT FOR MAIL CONVERSION

 

Active Directory Domain Discovery

  1. In Clearwell, go to SYSTEM
  2. Depending on the version of Clearwell, continue with the following steps
    1. For Clearwell 7.1.1
      1. Click on EMAIL SERVERS
      2. From the dropdown box labeled SELECT SERVER / ARCHIVE SOURCE TO DISCOVER, select ACTIVE DIRECTORY
    2. For Clearwell 7.1.2 and later
      1. Click on DIRECTORIES AND SERVERS
      2. Click on the tab labeled ACTIVE DIRECTORY
  3. Click on the name of the domain in the DOMAINS TO CRAWL pane.
  4. On the next screen, retype the credentials and click SAVE

Clearwell Source Accounts (for servers that have the COLLECTIONS license) 

  1. In Clearwell, go to SYSTEM > ALL COLLECTIONS
  2. Then click on SOURCE ACCOUNTS
  3. Click on the account to change the credentials
  4. After changing the credentials, click SAVE

LDAP/LDAPs Connection Password

  1. In the UI, navigate to System > Support Features and select Property Browser in the drop-down list.
  2. In the Pattern to match field enter esa.ldap.* and click the Submit button.
  3. Note the value of esa.ldap.connectionName.  This is the account used to authenticate to LDAP/s.
  4. Copy the property esa.ldap.connectionPassword from the results and paste it into the Name of property to change.
  5. In New value (leave blank to remove) enter the new password of the esa.ldap.connectionName account.
  6. Check Confirm change. Are you sure?
  7. Click Submit.

 After changing all of the above locations to match the credentials in Active Directory, a restart of all of the Clearwell services is recommended.
