Each mailbox in Exchange 2007 (and older) contains a folder called "Dumpster". This folder was renamed to "Recoverable Items" in Exchange 2010 (and newer).
The "Dumpster/Recoverable Items" folder is collected when a Veritas eDP collection is done on an Exchange mailbox. When the collection is run, there are two PSTs that are created by Veritas eDP, one for the mailbox and the other for the "Dumpster/Recoverable Items".
The Dumpster/Recoverable Items" folder is divided into six sub-folders in Exchange:
Deletions (Collected by Veritas eDP):
Items removed from the "Deleted Items" folder or soft deleted from other folders are moved to the "Deletions" subfolder and are visible to the user when using the "Recover Deleted Items" feature in Outlook.
Purges (Collected by Veritas eDP):
Items that exceed the deleted item retention period or manually purged messages are moved to this folder. This folder is not visible to users.
Versions (Collected by Veritas eDP):
When a user who is placed on litigation hold changes specific properties of a mailbox item, the original item is preserved to meet discovery obligations. A copy of the original mailbox item is created and stored in this folder before the changed item is written. This folder is not visible to users.
Audits (Not Collected by Veritas eDP):
This folder will contain Admin, Delegate, and Owner Audit logs if the mailbox has Audit logging enabled. This folder is not visible to users.
DiscoveryHolds (Collected by Veritas eDP):
If an "In-Place" hold is setup on a user's mailbox, this folder will contain items the user hard deleted that match the hold query parameters of the "In-Place" hold. This folder is not visible to users.
Calendar Logging (Not Collected by Veritas eDP):
This folder contains changes made to calendar items for the specific mailbox. This folder is not visible to users.
