Cause

When a CA or DA search is run, the Searches tab shows an upper and a lower pane.  The upper pane contains details about the search such as, but not limited to, the search name, run date, number of hits and status of the overall search.

The lower pane is the Search Details pane that shows the following information:

  • Archive - This is the name of the Archive to be searched.
  • Index Volume ID - As each Archive can have 1 or more Index Volumes, an ID value must be assigned to each Index Volume of each Archive to allow for easy identification in the event any issue occurs with a specific Index Volume.  The source of this ID value is either from EV, CA or DA and depends on the status of the search.
  • Vault Store - This is the name of the Vault Store that contains the Archive.
  • Status - This is the current status of the search against the Index Volume.  The status can be 'Not Started', 'Queued', 'Searching', 'Processing', 'Failed' or 'Finished'.
  • Duration (dd:hh:mm:ss) - The amount of time needed to search the index volume in days, hours, minutes and seconds.
  • Hits - This is the number of items found that match the search criteria.
  • Information - This column will contain information on a Volume if available.  Examples include "Date range exclusion" where the Index Volume is not searched as CA/DA knows there are no items within the Index Volume that are within the date span of the search, or 'Some items could not be searched' which indicates the Index Volume contains items that could not be indexed. Note - Not all messages in this column indicate an issue. For example, the message 'Date range exclusion' is informational only and does not indicate an issue.

When a CA or DA Reviewer looks at the Search Details pane and sees the Index Volume ID, it can appear that one Reviewer sees different ID values from another Reviewer.

Resolution

While a CA or DA search is running, the Index Volume ID shown will be the ID value assigned by EV.  This is to allow quicker identification of which Index Volume of the Archive needs attention should the Info column report any issue other than "Date range exclusion".

When a CA or DA search has been accepted into the Review Set of the CA Department or DA Case, the Index Volume ID shown will be the ID value assigned by CA or DA.  This is to provide historic reference to the Index Volume should its EV provided ID value be changed due to a rebuild or if the Archive is deleted.

This change from the EV Index Volume ID to the CA or DA Index Volume ID is by design.

Issue/Introduction

When viewing the Search Details pane of any Enterprise Vault (EV) Compliance Accelerator (CA) or Discovery Accelerator (DA) search, the Index Volume ID column entries do not appear to show the expected ID number.
