Description

Error Message

Error found in the Muhimbi Document Converter Log

System.NotSupportedException: Document encryption is not allowed in FIPS mode.

Cause

Muhimbi is unable to properly handle rendering of documents due to FIPS encryption settings. This forces IGC to attempt rendering in Muhimbi's place, which may result in inclusion of full message headers, and slower production times.

Resolution

Disable FIPS Encryption settings. This is typically controlled at the System Administration level.

This can be set under the Security Policy of 'System Cryptography: Use FIPS Compliant algorithms for encryption', which needs to be set to 'disabled'.

Alternatively, this may be controlled through the Registry. Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\FipsAlgorithmPolicy\" and ensure that the key 'enabled' is set to '0'.

Both fixes require a reboot.

Issue/Introduction

Documents may render through IGC rather than Muhimbi despite Muhimbi being enabled. This may result in full message headers being included unexpectedly in a production.
