Event ID: 45824 is logged when the problem occurs.
The Enterprise Vault SMTP service received an email message that contains an unrecognized SMTP target address or invalid content.

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in Enterprise Vault 12.3.1.  
 

 

Issue/Introduction

When the Admin Service starts, the SMTP Configuration Settings will be synchronized between the SMTP Service and the Enterprise Vault Directory Database (once the Directory Service has also started).

During the sync process, the \SMTP\DATA\etc\switch\domain file is cleared by the Enterprise Vault Admin Service and on a busy system, messages may be wrongly rejected as the SMTP service may attempt to read its configuration at the same time as the Admin Service is updating it.
