Failed to make a request via HttpWebRequest. Exception: Unable to connect to the remote server can be seen in a fiddler trace.

 

Unable To Connect to Remote Server

Cause

  • The Exchange Mailbox Server is not able to properly locate an Exchange Client Access Server to perform a proxy to an EWS virtual directory
  • The EWS virtual directory on the Exchange Client Access Server is not functioning properly preventing Exchange from proxying the request

Resolution

Ensure that the EWS URL responds to the correct IP Address from the Exchange mailbox server.

Note: In the below example mail.enterprisevault.com must resolve properly to a Client Access Server /Load balancer from the Exchange mailbox server.
