Error Message

The account you are using does not have sufficient privileges or is not in a role that allows you to administer this Enterprise Vault installation. 

The Enterprise Vault Monitoring process will generate the following errors in the Veritas Enterprise Vault event viewer log:

EVENT ID: 40966 A program fault has raised an exception.

Exception: COM invoke problem - Bad variable type. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020008 (DISP_E_BADVARTYPE))

Diagnostic:

Type: KVS.EnterpriseVault.DirectoryUnavailableException

A dtrace of MonitoringConfigUtility shows the following:

{VaultCreateInstanceRequest::CreateInstance} Attempt [1] to create COM object failed. CLSID [{F4D3EB5B-C7C5-11D1-90DB-0000F879BE6A} (EnterpriseVault.DirectoryService.1)] Server Name {evserver] Elapsed [0.003s] Result [Bad variable type. (0x80020008)]

 

Cause

This issue can occur as a result of Dlls that Enterprise Vault rely on not being registered properly.

 

Resolution

Execute \Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault\Filereregister.bat

Once complete, reboot the Enterprise Vault server.

Issue/Introduction

Unable to log into the Enterprise Vault Administration Console (VAC). When attempting to log into the Enterprise Vault Administration Console, a pop up occurs stating insufficient privileges.
