Cause

The resizing of panes in (EVS) when integrated in Outlook is not supported. 

Resolution

Work Around:

If it is becomes necessary for users to resize panes in (EVS) it is possible to do when launching a web browser and going to https://EVServerName/EnterpriseVault/Search/Shell.aspx and resizing the panes in a browser outside of Outlook. 

Additionally, it is also possible to adjust the Exchange Desktop Policy  to Launch EVS in a separate browser window so that it is not integrated with Outlook by performing the following steps:

From the Vault Admin Console:

  • Expand Enterprise Vault=>Directory=>EVSite=>Policies=>Exchange=>Desktop
  • Select the Advanced tab. 
  • List Setting From: Outlook
  • Select the 'Search Behavior' setting and hit the 'Modify' button.
  • Select Separate browser and Apply
  • The setting will take effect when the target mailboxes are next synchronized. 

In almost all cases the preset width's for the panes when EVS is integrated with Outlook will suffice. In this scenario it is possible to use the product as is. 

Issue/Introduction

When launching EVS within Outlook, users are unable to adjust or resize panes. This issue occurs when the Enterprise Vault server is on 12.1 and later. The issue does not effect EVS when it is launched via a web browser.
