Cause

Security settings for Internet Explorer (IE) can affect how the CA and DA Client perform their operations.  In this case, clicking on the attachment fails due to a security setting that prevents navigation between a page in a lower security zone to a page in a higher security zone.  When the following security setting is set to Disabled, the attachments to messages in the Review tab's preview pane will not open:

- Internet Options selection when the gear icon is clicked in the upper right corner of the IE browser
  - Security tab
    - Trusted sites option
      - Custom level (button clicked)
        - Miscellaneous section
          - Web sites in less privileged Web content zones can navigate into this zone option
            - Available options are:
              - Enabled
              - Prompt
              - Disabled

WARNING:
Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry be made prior to making any registry changes.

This behaviour can be disabled by adding the application with a zero value to the Zone Elevation settings in the Registry.  Configure the following Registry setting on each machine with the CA and / or DA Client installed:

- HKEY_CURRENT_USER
  - Software
    - Microsoft
      - Internet Explorer
        - Main
          - FeatureControl
            - FEATURE_ZONE_ELEVATION
                - Key type:      REG_DWORD
                - Key name:    AcceleratorClient.exe
                - Key value:    0

The following registry values may also be needed to resolve the issue either in replacement of or in combination to the above registry value.  All of these registry values can safely be added to the workstations where the CA and / or DA client is installed.

Issue/Introduction

Attachments to emails fail to open in the Compliance Accelerator (CA) and Discovery Accelerator (DA) Client when clicking on the attachment file name to open in the file's original application or on the (HTML) line to open the HTML representation of the attachment where hit highlighting can be seen.
