Cause

The issue is a combination of several factors such as

  1. A number of Retention Categories enabled for Expiry greater than approximately 150.
    A retention category is enabled for Expiry when the Prevent automatic deletion of expired items with this category option is not selected in the Retention Category's properties.

  2. Number of Archives enabled for Expiry containing several millions records per archive

  3. Number of Vault stores being processed concurrently

 

Resolution

This issue has been fixed in the following release available from Downloads: 

Enterprise Vault 12.4.1

 

Issue/Introduction

After an upgrade to Enterprise Vault (EV) 12.2, the storage expiry process can take several hours longer than before to complete and also consumes larger amount of SQL Resources where the CPU Usage may run at 100% during the Storage Expiry execution.
