How to add Windows Filers in Bulk in Data Insight

Solution

In the Management Console: 

1. Select Settings>Upload Manager (Figure 1)

Browse to the location of the installation binaries and select the Veritas_DataInsight_windows_winnas__x64.zip package then select the Collector(s) that will be assigned to the filers and upload

Or, browse through the Management Server's \Program Files\DataInsight\installers (Default C:\Program Files\DataInsight\installers\) and select the *winnas* executable files along with the *install* varfiles and then click the Box next to the Collector to be assigned to the new Filers

2. Select Settings>Filers>Add Filers in Bulk (Figure 2)

3. Fill in the details like so but omitting the (") quotes: (Figure 4)

Save the file as "All Files" and add ".csv" as the file extension.

NOTE: For adding WinNAS filers that are clustered, the format of the CSV is as follows:

= Name of the MS Cluster

= Space separated names of the cluster nodes

4. Select Settings>Filers>Add Filers in Bulk (Figure 5)

Click the "Browse" button and select the "FilersInBulk.csv" files created earlier and then click "Upload"

Simply change <Agents> to '-' and remove <Upgrade Type>, <Installer Name> as these are not required if no Agent

NOTE: To install the agents to a non-default location perform the following:

To install/configure the WinNAS Agent on a drive other than C:\ the following steps will need to be performed prior to performing the bulk addition

1. After uploading the WinNAS installer package, on each Collector node that the filers will be assigned to navigate to \DataInsight\installers
2. Edit the the Veritas_DataInsight_windows_winnas__winnas_install.varfile and modify the following lines with the desired paths (maintain the double backslash between the directories as per the example)
   1. sys.installationDir=C\:\\Program Files\\DataInsight
   2. matrix.datadir=C\:\\DataInsight\\data
3. Save the file
4. Agents will now be installed to the desired location instead of C:\

Note: There is no installation progress displayed except for "Initiating install" and "Starting agent install",  It is OK to click Close.   Allow some times for the push installation to all nodes listed to complete.  You can monitor the installation progress in the UI, Settings - Health & Monitoring - Installation Status
