Cause

The upgrade process is unable to remove the current version of the Symantec Enterprise Vault Indexing Redistributable.MSI before installing the new version.

 

Resolution

Locate these msi files within the installation media for 11.0.1 (under Server\EVTmp), right-click the msi and uninstall it. Perform the installation for 12.3 once again.

The Veritas Enterprise Vault Cloud Storage.msi also has to be uninstalled from the 11.0.1 CHF5 installation media.

 

Issue/Introduction

During an upgrade to Enterprise Vault (EV) 11.0.1 CHF5 or 12.3, a dialog box requests the location of the Veritas Enterprise Vault Indexing Redistributable.MSI file. After selecting the file manually, the box appears again and the upgrade cannot continue. Additionally, errors for other .msi files like Veritas Enterprise Vault Cloud Storage.msi and Enterprise Vault Web Search Components may be seen. This issue can also be present in newer versions of EV.
