Error Message

[#450203] An unexpected error occurred: [#422279] The location can not be deleted because it is in use

Cause

The most common cause of this error is when the collected data is manually moved from its original collection location to a new location.  The data locator tables in MySQL continue to reference the old location and prevent deletion of that location in the eDP UI, resulting in this error.

eDiscovery has a feature called Collection Move that updates the data locator tables and moves the collection task data to the new location, allowing the old location to be safely deleted. See below:

Resolution

If the original location still exists, use the Collection 'Move' feature for each collection using that location.  This feature will make the appropriate changes within the data locator tables to reflect the new location.  After using the Collection Move feature, the original collection location can be deleted.
If the original collection location has also been manually deleted, the Collection Move feature will not work.  Veritas support must be engaged to resolve the problem.

NOTE:  Please perform a collection backup immediately after using the Collection Move feature.  Old backups of this collection will still reference the old location, making them unusable.

NOTE: If Collection Sets have been created from tasks in the moved collection, the Collection Locator Modifier support feature will need be used as well, so that previously processed Collection Sets will point to the new location during review and export.  If no Collection Sets have ever been processed, this step can be ignored.

Issue/Introduction

When an eDiscovery (eDP) administrator attempts to delete an old collection location in the eDP UI, they receive the below error.
