Description

Error Message

"Windows blocked the installation of a digitally unsigned driver."

Cause

New builds of Windows Server 2016 provide stricter signed drivers enforcement by means of a protected mode.

Resolution

The driver installed with the FSA Agent is digitally signed, however the Hyper-V virtual machine is not able to detect and prevents the driver from being installed.

Customers experiencing this issue should contact Microsoft for further assistance.

An alternative workaround should allow the installation of the FSA Agent driver, which is described below.

  1. Reboot the server in “Advanced Boot Options”.

  1. Select the Option “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement”.

  1. Press “Enter”.
  2. The server boots normally.
  3. Now install the FSA Agent.

NOTE:

In order to confirm that the EvFilter (evmf.sys) driver was installed correctly, from a CMD use the command  'fltmc'.

The fltmc command will list all installed mini-filter drivers and should show the EVFilter instance on each mounted partitions.

Issue/Introduction

Installing the FSA Agent on a file server target hosted on Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V returns an error stating the driver is not digitally signed.
