Cause
eDiscovery is unable to communicate with the Exchange server with the RPC/HTTP protocol.
Resolution
Check that the Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service is running on the target on-premise Exchange server.
Issue/Introduction
eDiscovery collections from any version of on-premise Exchange fail with a MAPI_E_NETWORK_ERROR in the ExchCollection_Output.log file. A MAPI_E_NETWORK_ERROR indicates some sort of communication failure with Exchange. It is not usually a permissions issue on the target Exchange server as permission issues generally return a MAPI_E_FAILONEPROVIDER error.
