The EV Indexing Engine is not accent sensitive, therefore returning variations of the accented words used in the search criteria.
This allows the search to also identify possible variations where the content was not spelled correctly.
The logic used by Hit Highlighting does not account for variations as, in some languages, it is possible that incorrect spelling of accented words may represent different meanings altogether. Therefore, within the context of the search, the Hit Highlighting would not be accurate if it would be designed to highlight all variations.
The recommendation is for the Reviewers to consider reviewing all returned items, regardless of whether any word has been highlighted as a hit, as the context of the returned word variation would confirm its relevance.
When using Compliance Accelerator (CA) to search using words with accented characters in the Search criteria, many items may be returned as the search logic would find all possible variations of the words used. This behaviour also applies to Discovery Accelerator (DA) and EV Search (EVS).
There may be items returned from the search that would not necessarily contain the exact accented words used, but also any variations thereof.
It is necessary to review the entire result set to understand the context and determine whether the returned items are relevant.
