Description

Error Message

There is no error message.

Cause

This issue can occur if an Enterprise Vault Directory database was restored from a time prior to the creation of the archive or from an old back up. In which case the archive will not show up in the VAC. Subsequently an EVSVR Repair ArchivesDirectory operation was performed. This operation uses ArchivePoint entries in the vault store database to recreate the archive in the EnterpriseVaultDirectory database. However, since the EV Directory database was restored from a time before the archive was present there is no user, SID, or Trustee information for which to repopulate the archive name with. As a result the archive will show blank in the (VAC).

Resolution

To resolve this issue he archive can be searched via Enterprise Vault Search and looking into the 'Sent' folder. For instance if all the emails in the sent folder are from User1 then the archive likely belongs to User1. User1 can now be entered into the properties of the archive in the General tab to identify the archive. In the case that this occurs for multiple archives it will be difficult to keep track of which blank archive in EVS corresponds to which archive in the VAC. Therefore it is recommended to name all the archives beforehand with a temporary name in the VAC. For example: Unknown1, Unknown2 Unknown3 and so on. Once the archive owner has been identified it can be renamed to the rightful name in the VAC.

Issue/Introduction

In the Vault Administration Console one or more archives will appear without an archive name or having a blank archive name.
