Description

Error Message

Event ID 3429

Unable to synchronize the properties of mailbox /o=XXXX=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=XXXX on Exchange server XXXXX. This mailbox is over quota and desktop policy changes cannot be applied to the mailbox.

v-437-3429

Cause

When attempting to synchronize an Exchange mailbox, it fails if there is no Active Directory (AD) account and Mailbox on the Exchange Server. Running Provision task doesn't show any record of the user in the report and also there will be no entry of the user in the EV Directory Database ExchangeMailboxEntry table on SQL.

Resolution

Enterprise Vault (EV) does not synchronize mailboxes if there is no Active Directory Account and if the Registry ExcludeDisabledADAccounts is set to Value 0 on the EV server.

Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.

Verify that the following registry value exists on the EV server which hosts the Exchange Mailbox Archiving Task:

For OS in 32 bits:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KVS\Enterprise Vault\Agents

For OS in 64 bits:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KVS\Enterprise Vault\Agents\

ExcludeDisabledADAccounts
If the Value data is set to 0, change it to 1. Restart all the tasks and Services and then attempt Mailbox Synchronization.
