Cause
Veritas eDiscovery version 9.5 moved to HTML5 formatting in order to be compliant with modern Internet browsers. Previously, the application was only accessible using Microsoft Internet Explorer and was not HTML5 compliant.
Legal Hold Notice bodies that were previously populated by cutting and pasting from Microsoft products such as Word or Outlook would maintain their formatting because the client browser, Internet Explorer, was Microsoft compatible.
With the introduction of HTML5 compatibility in Veritas eDiscovery version 9.5, the recommended browsers are Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge Chromium. These browsers to not respect Microsoft document formatting in the same way as Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Resolution
- Before inserting the body text into a Legal Hold notice, first copy and paste it into a text editor, such as Notepad.exe. This will strip any unseen, non-standard formatting characters.
- From the text editor, copy and paste the scrubbed text into the Legal Hold notice body.
- If additional formatting is required, such as Bold, Italic, Color or Highlighting, use the formatting tools available in the Legal Hold email body editor.
