Description

Error Message

Failed to export: The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters

Workaround

To complete the export job, either of the below options are available:

1.       In the Review tab, place a review Mark that is not on the successfully exported items on the failed items using their DiscoveredItemID values and then export them using that mark.

2.       Rerun the export specifying a shorter export path.  For example, to a local drive on the DA server.

Cause

Some operating systems had path length restrictions that have been coded into DA to prevent errors from occurring on the server's event logs.  For DA, this issue typically occurs when exporting items archived using the Enterprise Vault File System Archiving process where the original locations are in very deep folders and with long file names.

Issue/Introduction

Exporting items in Discovery Accelerator (DA) fail due to long file paths and names.
