Description

Error Message

Message observed with the body of the attachment when it displays within the UI:
Unable to retrieve content, the source cannot be found.

Cause

Long file names and long attachment names will contribute to long directory paths, possibly over the Windows limit of 260 characters.

This issue has been seen when running the eDiscovery Platform on Windows Server 2016 and the Group Policy of 'Enable Win32 Long Paths' is set to Disabled.

Resolution

To confirm open Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc).  If it's greyed out it will need to be set via GPO.

  1. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates >System > Filesystem
  2. Edit the setting  Enable Win32 Long Paths and set the state to Enabled
  3. Restart server for change to take effect
  4. Apply to every node in the cluster, if applicable.

Issue/Introduction

In the Analysis and Review module, random attachments to parent documents will not retrieve or render in Text View. Native View will error as well. The issue may occur across multiple cases.
