Description

Error Message

No error message is present.

Cause

The issue is caused by the Client Preview processing being hard-coded to use Internet Explorer for certain HTML components, such as those used in links (URLs).

Resolution

In order to preview a link, copy the link's URL (uniform resource locator) and paste into an alternate browser. If the environment has been reconfigured to use an alternate browser, such as Microsoft Edge, right-click the URL and click on 'Open link in new window', which should open the link in the default browser.

Note the behaviour may be a little different when using Veritas Advanced Supervision (VAS). Clicking on the link may display a blank page, which is current behaviour as expected due to security restrictions of directly accessing links via VAS. However right-clicking on the link in VAS and selecting either 'Open link in new tab' or 'Open link in new window' should open the link.

There are no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in earlier versions of the software at the present time. However, the issue has been addressed in the revision of the product specified at the end of this article.

Please contact your Veritas Sales representative or the Veritas Sales group for upgrade information including upgrade eligibility to the release containing the resolution for this issue.

This issue is fixed in the following release(s), available in the Download Center at www.veritas.com/support:
- Enterprise Vault 14.2.2

- Enterprise Vault 14.3

Issue/Introduction

Attempting to open social media links, such as Facebook or Twitter posts, in the Enterprise Vault (EV) Compliance Accelerator (CA) Client Preview tab results in the links being opened in Internet Explorer, even though the environment is configured to disable Internet Explorer and use another default browser, such as Microsoft Edge. The reason for configuring the environment to use another default browser is due to the end of support for Internet Explorer, per Microsoft's Lifecycle Policy. The steps to disable Internet Explorer can be found in Microsoft books online.
