Windows Firewall configuration causes "Exception: No such interface supported" error

Error Message

The FSA task report file will show the following error.  

 *** Error *** - Error making file: \\?\UNC\TestFileServer.EV.LOCAL\Shared\NewFile.TXT a placeholder file. No such interface supported
 

The Security log on the file server will show 5152 or 5157 events similar to below:

Cause

The issue occurs when the Windows Firewall does not allow the connection to EvPlacholderService.exe to create the placeholder files. 

Resolution

To address the issue, allow the communication for EvPlaceholderService.exe within the firewall configuration so that placeholder files can be created properly.

Windows Firewall can cause an issue when the File System Archiving (FSA) task attempts to create a placeholder on the file server.
