Description

Veritas is aware of the imminent pricing and licensing modifications that Oracle plans to implement (based on the current status of Oracle’s decision) for its Java product. The primary goal of this article is to reassure our valued customers that these changes will not result in any adverse effects or financial burdens for them.

Depending on its version, Enterprise Vault utilizes the following Java components:

  • Enterprise Vault 14.1 or earlier utilizes the Oracle Java component
  • Enterprise Vault 14.2 or later utilizes the Amazon Corretto Java component

Notes for customers using Enterprise Vault versions 14.1 and earlier

Veritas has a contractual agreement with Oracle to utilize its Java component in the application, and there are no additional charges for the end customer. However, you are not permitted to use the Java component included with the application for any other purposes.

Notes for customers using Enterprise Vault versions 14.2 and later

In versions 14.2 and later, Enterprise Vault transitioned to using the Amazon Corretto Java component instead of Oracle Java. Amazon Corretto is a cost-free, cross-platform, and production-ready distribution of the Open Java Development Kit (OpenJDK). Additionally, starting from version 14.2, Enterprise Vault has adopted the much more efficient Elasticsearch for indexing, which relies on the Amazon Corretto Java component.
