A Dtrace of the StorageServer process will show the following:
[22148] (StorageServer) <22180> EV~E Event ID: 29034 Vault Store database patch removal failed.| |Reason: Operation blocked by installer|
Cause
This issue can occur when the currently installed version of Enterprise Vault is older than a previously installed version of Enterprise Vault.
Due to which it was unable to connect with the Database server and the Storage service failed to start.
Resolution
Confirm the version of Enterprise Vault that is expected. See How to find Enterprise Vault version information.
