Description:
An error occurred opening the Journal mailbox /o=First Organization/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (ABCDSPDLT) /cn=Recipients/cn=83d0a43be73847b3bbaf4e7a96530b24-d1-1

 

Following is observed in the dtrace taken against the JournalTask process:

Cause

MAPI Mailbox feature for the journal mailbox in the error is disabled on Exchange.

Resolution

Enable the MAPI feature for the affected journal mailbox using the following steps:

  1. In the EAC (Exchange Admin Center), go to Recipients > Mailboxes.

  2. In the list of mailboxes, find the mailbox that you want to modify. You can:

    • Scroll through the list of mailboxes.

    • Click Search Search icon. and enter part of the user's name, email address, or alias.

    • Click More options More Options icon. > Advanced search to find the mailbox.

      Once you've found the mailbox that you want to modify, select it, and then click Edit Edit icon..

  3. On the mailbox properties page that opens, click Mailbox features.

  4. In the Email Connectivity section:

    • If you see MAPI: Disabled, click Enable to enable it.

 

Issue/Introduction

Journal Archiving halts due to Event ID 3237: An error occurred opening the Journal mailbox 0x8004010f. The Journal Task starts fine and remains in running state.
