To install the Enterprise Vault (EV) Vault Administration Console (VAC) on any user's workstation or non-EV server computer, copy the EV setup file onto the computer and select the option to install a standalone administration console in the setup wizard.
Note: The following steps use EV 15.1.0 as an example to install on a Windows 10 Workstation computer. All EV versions use similar steps on supported Windows Operating System workstations and servers.
1. Copy the EV setup file on a machine. Example: The filename for the EV 15.1.0 release is Veritas_Enterprise_Vault_15_1_0_Win_Multilingual.iso.
2. In the setup wizard, select server installation.
2.1. Mount the EV installation ISO file.
2.2. Double click the setup.exe file to launch the installer.
3. Choose the option to install Standalone Administration Console.
3.1. In the left panel, select the Enterprise Vault option.
3.2. Still on the left panel, select the Server Installation option.
3.3. In the right panel, select the Installation or upgrade of a standalone Administration Console option.
3.4. Still on the right panel, select either the Install X64 Version or Install X86 Version option as appropriate for the operating system of the device onto which the VAC is to be installed.
4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation. The following steps are presented as an example of installing the EV 15.1.0 Vault Administration Console on a Windows 10 Workstation.
4.1. On the Veritas Enterprise Vault - InstallShield Wizard initial page, click Install to move to the next page. This will install the prerequisites noted on the page and may take several minutes.
4.2. After the prerequisites have been successfully installed, click Next on the Welcome to Enterprise Vault 15.1 page.
4.3. On the License Agreement page, click the I accept the terms of the license agreement radio button, then click Next.
4.4. On the Choose Destination Location page,
4.4.1. Click the Browse... button.
4.4.2. Navigate to and select the drive and folder to contain the installed files. Note: The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault\.
4.4.3. Click Next.
4.5. On the Select Features page, ensure only the Administration Console option's checkbox is populated, then click Next. This will cause a scan of the computer to ensure the needed prerequisites have been installed.
4.6. The Incomplete Prerequisites page may appear if all of the EV prerequisites have not been installed. This page has a populated checkbox option of Display the report to view what may be missing. Click Next to proceed. A web page in the default browser will appear to display any missing prerequisites, but these are only needed on the EV server and can be ignored.
4.7. On the Select Software License Files page,
4.7.1. Click Browse... .
4.7.2. Browse to the drive and folder containing the Enterprise Vault license SLF file.
4.7.3. Select that SLF file.
4.7.4. Click Open.
4.7.5. Click Next.
4.8. On the Information about services page, note the services to be stopped before clicking Next. This will cause the listed services to be stopped.
4.9. On the Ready to Install the Program page, click Install.
4.10. On the Installation complete page, radio buttons may appear with the options of Yes, I want to restart my computer now. and No, I will restart my computer later. with the option to restart now as the default selection. Veritas recommends saving and closing whatever work is currently open on the computer and allowing it to restart to allow proper permissions-based access to the VAC upon restart completion. Click Finish to complete the installation.
Note: After clicking Finish with the option to restart selected, the actual restart may take a few seconds to show the computer restarting.
5. Once installed and the computer restart has completed, launch the admin console.
5.1. Log onto the computer using an account that has permissions to use the VAC.
5.2. Allow some time for the VAC installation to be completed fully. Pop-up windows will appear stating files being registered. Once all of these have been completed, the Installation Complete page will appear.
5.3. In the Installation Complete page will be a populated Show details of configuring installed components. checkbox. Clear this check box, then click Finish.
5.4. Click the Start menu.
5.5. Right-click the Enterprise Vault Administration Console option under the Recently added banner and select the Pin to Start option to pin the shortcut to launch the VAC to the Start Menu.
5.6. Click the Enterprise Vault Administration shortcut to launch the VAC.
Note: The initial launch of the VAC will require populating the Directory Service Computer: field with the name or alias of the primary Enterprise Vault Directory Service Computer, then clicking the OK button to connect to the site.
