Description:
Enterprise Vault could not enable a mailbox because either the Vault Store or 
Indexing Service were not specified. Ensure that both the Vault Store and 
Indexing Service are set on the Provisioning Group, the Exchange Server or the 
Enterprise Vault Server.

Cause

This can occur when the Vault Store is not configured as default on the Provisioning Group, the Exchange Server, or the Enterprise Vault Server.

 

Resolution

To resolve this issue, configure a Default Vault Store in the Enterprise Vault Console.
  1. Open the Enterprise Vault Console.
  2. Navigate to Enterprise Vault Servers > [EVserver] > Properties.
  3. Go to the Archiving Defaults page.
  4. Specify a Default Vault Store.
  5. Save the changes.

Alternatively, one can configure the Vault Store in Provisioning Group or Exchange Server Properties too.

This issue could also occur when an Indexing Service is not specified.
