There are no error messages. The Date modified remains the same and is not updated after saving the file with new updates.
Cause
This issue is caused by applications that use Fast I/O vs. IRP requests. Since the Date modified is not updated, the archiving task does not archive the file as a new item and converts the item to a placeholder that points to the previously archived item.
Resolution
Applications that use Fast I/O are not supported when using pass-through on the file server.
A workaround would be to use an application that does not use Fast I/O to open the file, such as WordPad.
An alternate workaround would be to disable pass-through recall on the volume target.
Issue/Introduction
When some placeholder files are opened, modified, and then saved, the Date modified is not updated on the original file when using pass-through recall on the file server. This issue looks to affect .txt files primarily.
