"The target principal name is incorrect. Cannot generate SSPI context"

Cause

Merge1 service account credentials are not updated correctly.

Resolution

Update the credentials for the IIS application pool identity and the Merge1 agent service via services.msc

To update the application pool identity follow the below steps:

  1. Open IIS manager
  2. Click on Application Pools
  3. Go to Advanced Settings of Merge1WebAppPool.
  4. Under process model section, click on identity and three dots.
  5. Select custom account and click Set
  6. Update the Merge1 service account credentials and click Ok.
     

Issue/Introduction

When trying to login to the Merge1 portal, a page opens up to connect to the main database instead of a login page. When a user tries to connect to the main database it fails with the error below.
