Description

Error Message

The error message displayed is: "Something went wrong. Contact your Enterprise Vault administrator. Try the operation after some time or contact your Enterprise Vault administrator for more details." This error message indicates that there was a problem with the export operation and advises the user to reach out to the Enterprise Vault administrator for assistance.

Cause

The root cause of this issue is insufficient permissions for affected users to their Temp folder. When attempting to create the ZIP file for the export, EV tries to access the Temp folder, but fails due to the insufficient permissions. This is evident in the diagnostic information, which shows the error message "Access to the path 'C:\Temp\EVExport_' is denied."

Resolution

To resolve this issue, the missing permissions on the C:\Temp\ folder in the EV servers need to be assigned. Follow the steps below to implement the solution:

  1. Log in to the EV server with administrative privileges.
  2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Temp\ folder.
  3. Right-click on the Temp folder and select "Properties" from the context menu.
  4. In the Properties window, go to the "Security" tab.
  5. Click on the "Edit" button to modify the permissions.
  6. In the Permissions window, click on "Add" to add the affected users or groups.
  7. Enter the names of the affected users or groups and click "Check Names" to validate.
  8. Once the names are validated, click "OK" to add them to the permissions list.
  9. Assign the necessary permissions to the added users or groups, such as "Full Control" or "Modify" permissions.
  10. Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes.
  11. Test the export to ZIP functionality in EV Search to ensure that the issue is resolved.
